Selecting a mushroom from the list matching your criteria gives you access to its Wikipedia page, complete with available pictures, description, scientific classification, ...

The complete Fungi database is included in the downloaded application providing full functionality where no network is available.

WARNING:
Correct mushroom identification is difficult. Do not ingest any wild mushroom until it has been checked by an expert mycologist.

Pros and cons of Fungi app for iPhone and iPad

Fungi app good for

Very handy and accurate when trying to identify what Im finding in the woods. Would like to see added a checklist of the shrooms Ive identified.
I like this app. I can use it on my fall hikes where I dont bring a field guide because of the weight. The key system is really slick. Id like to see a couple of inhancements. 1. Once I agree dont show the disclaimer again. 2. Allow inlarging the photo. 3. Add check off with date time stamp. Maybe Gps waypoints too. 4. Add window to allow field notes. My complements to the developers.
I too take my hat off to the creators of this app. I am so impressed with everything. With every app out there, you can improve a few things and with this is app there is a few. 1.) make a favorites tab so I can keep my favs close by 2.) I love the idea about a GPS tracking system for rack fungus I find. It would be nice to have a good Idea where I find my Fungi. 3.) have a search by area. If I live in ohio it would be nice to be able to do a search for mushrooms in Ohio and even maybe search for whats in season, or edible compared to non edible. Every app like this should have a search function. 4.) I noticed some fungus does not describe where they are found. Some do but alot just say what type of area they are in but not what area of the workd they can be found in. This would make it easier when going on a weekend Hike to narrow it down to what I am looking for. Again, this is nit picking but this would for sure turn this into one of my front pagers if those things were added in the next upgrade. I still love the app and you can count on me to open this app at LEAST once a day.
Very fine mushroom guide with sweet keys. Nice photos and good descriptions including common mushroom names. Thanks, but I agree the developer should delete-or-set-bypass the dire opening warning.
Thank-you so much for this well designed app! The key where you can scroll to select cap and scipe shape is a perfect use of the iPhone technology. It makes identification quick and easy. A few requests: 1. Please make it so the picture can be enlarged by touching it then minimized by touching a second time. Several of the news apps have this and it works very well. 2. A place for a notes feature and life list would be great 3. Search by state or at least region would be nice.
I hesitated downloading this app because of how poorly made the other mushrooms have been created. I am a beginning mushroom enthusiast and was really hopeful that I would be able to use my iPhone in addition to books to help me identify mushrooms in the field and to learn more when I had the time. Until now, this did not exist in the app store. I still have more to explore in this app but so far I am very impressed by the interface and information. The search function is amazingly innovative. I am confident this will help me in the field and I cant wait to get started. I would have given it 5 stars if it had: 1) more pics for each mushroom and the ability to zoom in on those pics. 2) a search by whats in season based on where I am ( this may be in the app and I just havent found it yet). Thank you for this app!

Some bad moments

I wish the developers would try out there own apps before posting. When reviewing the photos., Most do not show up. Waste of time.
I have done a little foraging before and thought an app to help would be good. Settled on this one, wish Id spent more and got something better. It is just a standalone Wikipedia browser. No usefull information that couldnt be found looking at Wikipedia.
Good app but now frozen on disclaimer Pease fix and I will write a better review
This program is frozen on my IPhone. It will not open, it will not update it is an interference to the operation of my phone. I can not even remove it.

Usually Fungi iOS app used & searched for
